What's New in r265
Release r265 was published on 28 Sep, 2021
In this release we're adding support for importing animated image formats like GIF and APNG to the editor. Both drag-and-drop to the Layout View and importing to the Animations Editor are supported. This currently requires Chrome 94+ though, as it is the first browser release that supports this.
We've also added ways to get the Z scale for the 3D camera object. This tells you how many pixels one unit on the Z axis is, so you can do things like make a 3D shape exactly cube by setting the right Z height. Another update for 3D cameras is now the layer parallax setting affects the 3D camera position. The main reason to use this is so you can make a skybox layer with zero parallax - then on that layer you can add a big 3D box encompassing the whole layout, and that 3D box will stay in a fixed position no matter where you go, providing a way to have an interesting 3D background with 3D camera.
There's also various other usability improvements, such as displaying the project filename in a couple of tooltips, and new options when bulk importing animations. As ever there's also a batch of bug fixes, and another new example added - check out Top-down shooter 3D for another great example of the kind of 3D style game it's now easy to design in Construct! We're now going to focus on reliability and work towards a stable release, so look out for a few bug-fixing focused releases over the next few weeks.
